I love deciding what kind of food I want to make for the Super Bowl almost as much as I love the commercials during the game—and maybe just slightly more than I like watching the game itself.
I got a bit of a late start this year, so I’m planning to try something pretty easy, like this recipe for cheese balls from our friend Marnie:
¼ cup flour
8 oz shredded sharp Colby cheese
½ cup melted butterMix flour and cheese together, then add melted butter. Roll mixture around green olives, jalapenos or anchovies and into balls.
Chill in refrigerator about one hour, then bake in oven at 350 for one hour.
Like Carolyn mentioned, I made Picky Palate’s brownie-covered Oreos—with a Packers twist—for a game earlier this year. They were such a crowd-pleaser that I’ll definitely make them again!
Need more ideas? My pan of Charlie Gibson’s Dorito casserole was a big hit at last year’s Super Bowl party, although it needs to be kept far away from any health nuts.
Some of my favorite sites have some amazing recipes for the big game:
- Baked spinach dip mini bread bowls (and more from Picky Palate)
- Buffalo chicken dip (and 45 other ideas from Brown Eyed Baker)
- Layered Greek dip (Noble Pig)
- Baked potato nachos (and 25 other ideas from How Sweet It Is)
Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
(and go pack go!)
